HOWTO: Category Columns

Last Updated:

When you touch a category column field in item view, you get a picker with a list of pre-populated choices to choose from. Category columns are great to use when you’re going to enter the same text over and over and over again. A good example would be a column for “Department” in a grocery list.

Category Values

Each category column has a set of category values assigned to it. You can edit these values by opening the list and then selecting Category Values from the List group on the Control Bar at the bottom of the screen. From here, you can select the column you want to edit values for (in case you have more than one category column in your list) and edit the values.

You can also set up a category column to add new values as you enter them. That way, if you haven’t included some value in your pre-defined list, entering into an item will automatically add it to the list.
